REMIX CULTURE
"THE REMIX MANIFESTO" is an open source documentary for the digital age informing about the legal and moral rights of copy right in the us.

Through the lived experience of web activist Brett Gaylor musician Greg Gillis, better known as "Girl Talk" they guide you through an investigation into how culture builds upon culture in the information age.

The manifesto represents 4 main ideas and concepts;

- Culture always builds on the past.

- The past always tries to control the future.

- Our future is becoming less free.

- To build free societies you must limit the control
of the past.
REMIX CULTURE "FAIR USE"
THE
REMIX MANIFESTO
Lawrence Lessig educated us through his blog the initial concept of "free use" within the copyright law.

With the post of this video Lessing gave us the ability to interact alongside his idea with our own personal ideas and thoughts on the matter.

Thereby we all took part in creating an open source surface of ideas and thoughts where the possibility of "remix" and "mash up" is endless.
The code of best practice of "fair use"

- The material use in your project need to be
"transformative".

- The amount of material you use must be
"proportional" to the purpose of your project.

- Always try and give "credit" to your sources.
